We don't need it, and it makes the whole game system a lot more complicated that it should be, as Radiance is just an RPG.

It would mostly be too change

Rework the camera system to be just a basic camera (removing the split screen option and smash-like option)
Rework the player system to have just one player object
Rework the input system to handle just one player
